Final Fantasy 7 Remake is just around the corner and to tide players over for another month, Square Enix has released a surprise demo of the game for the PlayStation 4.
The game has drawn considerable hype through trailers and gameplay clips, and this remake of arguably the most popular Final Fantasy title is sure to be a smash hit. The full game will be released on April 10th, 2020 and it’s worth noting that any progress from the demo will not carry over to the full game.
So, what is in the demo?
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Demo Details [SPOILERS]
The demo will jump right into the action and give players a feel for what the remake will have to offer. Things worth noting about the demo include:
- 7.5 GB file size
- The demo focuses on the first mission in Final Fantasy 7, where Cloud, Barret and the gang must sneak into enemy territory (the Shinra Electric Power Company) and destroy one of the Mako energy reactors. The demo will also feature the first boss battle against the Scorpion Sentinel which players must defeat to escape from the reactor.
- The demo will feature the action-RPG style of gameplay as well as the “Classic Mode” that’s been hyped up, which features a more traditional turn-based style of play for old school fans of the series.
- While it’s likely that the demo will mirror the final game quite closely, it’s noted that the demo explicitly states that the full game may feature some differences.
- While progress from the demo won’t carry over, downloading the demo will give players a free exclusive theme for their PlayStation 4.
Early impressions seem pretty strong with praise going towards the game’s faithfulness to the original story, setting and dialogue, and the combat system that seems to improve upon Final Fantasy XV’s, although some players felt the demo didn’t have enough to showcase just how nuanced the combat systems (both standard and Classic) can be and were left with a lackluster impression.
But the only way to find this out is to give the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo a try yourself! It can be downloaded on the PlayStation Store.
