It hasn’t even been a week since the Avatar x Smite Bundle has been released, and Hi-Rez is bringing in even more hype, with the announcement of a new God.

In a short teaser released on July 20th, Smite’s 111th God will be Tsukuyomi, the Moon God of Japanese mythology. His release date will be sometime in August 2020, so the wait won’t be much longer.

The trailer is based around the fierce rivalry between Tsukuyomi and his sister, Amaterasu. The teaser can be seen here:

There was universal praise for the cinematics of the trailer while people commented on the art style of the character (a common thought was that Tsukuyomi seemed like a cross between an anime and Final Fantasy character.)

No gameplay was shown, and as a result, fans have begun to theorycraft what kind of God Tsukuyomi will end up playing like. It is assumed that he will fall somewhere between the Warrior and Assassin roles. Some fans have created Smite God concepts for Tsukuyomi dating as far back as 2018.

Be sure to stay tuned for updates on the character, as well as when he’ll be released for Smite. In the meantime, be sure to check out the most infamous rage in Smite history!
