Salt – The Cringe Seasoning Of Gaming

2750

Salt (NaCl) is a mineral that can be found in salt mines and seawater. It is an essential human nutrient, and saltiness is one of the five basic human tastes.

Salt is also an essential component of the competitive gaming community. Whether it be online gameplay, losing to bullshit characters or tactics, or just controller frustrations, there are many things that can induce salt. Doctors have discovered that gamers worldwide produce enough salt in one day to season all of McDonald’s fries for a week.

Symptoms of gaming-induced salt include:

    • Controller throwing
    • Excessive cussing
    • Insistence that the other player “got lucky”
    • Belief that opposing players are engaged in gameplay that could be described as “fucking dumb”
    • An epiphany, often in the form of the player saying “Why do I play this fucking game?”

It most cases, gamers will insist that they’re done with the game in question, only to resume playing hours/days later as if nothing salt-inducing had ever occurred.

Of course, it can be hard for people outside the hardcore gaming sphere to understand just how bad it is on the sodium podium. We’re doing our part to spread the awareness. Check out these four videos, showing some of the saltiest moments captured on video. Check them out, and let’s #StopTheSalt
