If you heard there were pictures of “T-Pain at nightclub,” the last thing you’d expect to see is a photo of T-Pain sitting down playing video games. Yet, here we are.

T-Pain was spotted alongside Call of Duty player Censor at a new New York City tournament called “Nightclub” which is hosted by Super Smash Bros. Melee legend Hax.

The photo shows T-Pain and company playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as evidenced by T-Pain using the Switch Pro controller. He was likely there as part of an event hosted by G Fuel at Hotel 50 Bowery, promoting the release of a new drink flavor.

Nightclub is a co-venture by an independent gaming venue and Hax to further promote the local New York Smash scene. The tournament features Ultimate as well as Faster Monitor Melee, a mod for the game that allows Melee to be played on LCD monitors with no input lag, as well as controversial tactics such as wobbling being modded out.
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has been spotted at a Smash tournament; at EVO 2013, American Idol WinnerTaylor Hicks actually competed in the Super Smash Bros. Melee competition, where he ended up placing 257th out of 596.
