What Your Favorite Mortal Kombat Character Says About You

791

I’ve been playing Mortal Kombat with friends and family members for years. In that time, I’ve noticed a little bit of a pattern between a preferred fighter and the noob controlling them. So, I went ahead and put together a list of assumptions I can’t help but make about you if you happen to choose these characters. This list was made purely for entertainment purposes; nevertheless, if you happen to find something shockingly accurate, let’s hear about it!

Kitana

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995)

Her “Kiss of Death” fatality move is elegant and addictive. If you choose this player often, I would have to say that you probably love to win (obviously) but believe in a fair fight. You’re also probably the “brains” of your friend group or you like to have educational arguments with strangers on the internet. You also tend to lend a helping hand as needed. The only negative trait I may assume you have is the inability to let go of a grudge, even if it’s between someone close, like your own sister.

Sub-Zero

Mortal Kombat Mythologies *Movie Game* (1997)

You’re probably what they call an “extroverted-introvert.” You probably have a good memory because Sub-Zero’s moves have always been relatively easy to memorize in all adaptations of the game. I wouldn’t say you’re “coldhearted” but empathy doesn’t come naturally to you. You probably don’t care if you choose the “wrong” dialogue in games nor do you care about accomplishing all achievements. When you have cornered your opponent in a match, you step back to let them breathe, then you unleash a bunch of moves that make them wish they had never underestimated you.

Baraka

Mortal Kombat (2011)

You have a great sense of humor but are known for laughing at the worst moments. You don’t really care about memorizing moves and spam random buttons just like most people. One thing that makes you stand out though? You always seem to press the “pause” button in the middle of a match, thus throwing off your opponent. The question is: is it really an accident or is it your signature move when you’re losing to catch everyone off guard when you’re suddenly about to make a comeback?

Raiden

Mortal Kombat Gold (1999)

You’re a born leader, of course. If you’re not in charge, then you’re the one team member that has a lot to say about the way things are being done. When playing MK, you always choose the fighting arena. Always. Everyone probably flocks to you for advice and your boss finds you dependable. You’re ambitious and never have a reason to doubt yourself. You are probably very strategic when playing other video games and watch Youtube videos as a last resort when you’re stuck on a level because you would just rather figure things out on your own.

Ermac

Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks (2005)

Things are about to get real. Real petty. If you choose this character often, you’re the type of person that intentionally pauses the game in the middle of a match to see his moves, only to forget in a fraction of a second. You have no shame in cornering your opponent to secure your win, and you always look up a fatality move that you can never seem to get right when the match is over. You share memes without reacting to them on Facebook and you always listen to music on an odd number volume. You like to press buttons both in games and with people to test your limits. That’s okay though. You’re still an okay person to be around and your friends can rely on you to bring the snacks for the next gaming session. You’re also probably the first person to show up online when it’s time to link up.

Scorpion

Mortal Kombat Armageddon (2006)

Like Raiden, you’re also ambitious. However, you never know when to quit and you can’t end a long night of gaming on a loss. You don’t necessarily mind when you lose and you’re never too ashamed to ask for a rematch. You’re predictable so your friends always know exactly when to block your attacks and how you’ll react to news. Good and bad. You rarely try new things since you are comfortable with your routine and find it more enjoyable to improve your established qualities rather than learning new ones from scratch. You are introverted, but a joy to be around once you finally open up. It doesn’t take much to make you angry, but once that line is crossed you don’t hold back.

Jade

Mortal Kombat 11 (2019)

You are a humble and reserved player. You have a poker face that always leads your opponent into a false sense of security after they win a match. Your friends find you reliable and know they can pass the remote to you if they have trouble on a level. Going with the flow is what you were born to do. However, you still know when to speak up for yourself or for someone you care about. Like everyone else, you have your own gaming preferences, but never express them when gaming with friends because you just want to have a good time. You win some. You lose some.

Liu Kang

Mortal Kombat vs D.C. Universe (2008)

Despite the fact that you always skip cutscenes and get the first hit, you talk a lot and perhaps very fast. You’re always on the go and finish games quickly. Sometimes you go back for collectibles and acheivements, but by then you’ve already lost interest and are ready to move on to the next thing. Simply put, you’re an overacheiver but only in the sense of finishing first.

Johnny Cage

Mortal Kombat 4 (1997)

You love talking shit but can be a sore loser. However, your enthusiasm is contagious. You love being the center of attention but only if it’s to make you look good. You’re private about your problems but can be nosy when it comes to other people’s insecurities. You’d rather drop dead than press the pause button to look up a move or striaght up ask for help. Pride is everything to you and you tend to get a little sad when you haven’t done something “amazing” in a while.

Mileena

Mortal Kombat Deception (2004)

You’re just full of surprises aren’t you? Only the people closest to you see your true personality, and even they are often caught off guard by the random things you do and say. You’re the kind of person who continually amazes your friends as they uncover more about your personality. Google is no match against you. You’re like a living encyclopedia that always proves your friends wrong during debates. Your friends always ask: “How do you know all these things?” As a gamer you watch the entire cutscene and never leave a single object unturned in search of collectibles, coins, power-ups, you name it. You love living life to the fullest because you wholeheartedly believe that you only have one shot at being awesome, not that you have to try anyway.
